Invisible Seams
Whether you’re crocheting a flat circle or working in rounds for a tube, the seam can be the most frustrating part. It often stands out — and sometimes even slants to one side.
But don’t worry, there is a way to keep your seams neat and almost invisible. Here’s how to smooth them out and hide them completely.
Preventing the Slant
When crocheting in joining rounds, it’s common for the seam to slant diagonally — no matter what stitch you’re using.
The taller the stitch, the more noticeable the lean. This happens because of how crochet stitches are built: the base of each stitch sits directly above the one below it, but the top of the stitch shifts slightly to the side.
The good news? There’s a simple way to prevent that slant and keep your seam perfectly straight.
Slanting Seam Hack
To stop your seam from drifting, alternate where you place your first stitch.
One round, work into the same stitch as the chain.
The next, work into the next stitch.
This small change keeps your seam neatly aligned.
