Your Questions, Answered
What materials will I need, and what do they cost?
High-end changing baskets often come with a premium price tag. By making your own, you can create a matching changing basket and nappy caddy for less — with the satisfaction of knowing you made both yourself.
You'll need cotton cord, two wooden bases and a sturdy crochet hook.
Budget approximately $90–$100 for materials, depending on your supplier.
Inside the Studio, you'll find my exact shopping list, including quantities and recommended US and UK suppliers, so you know exactly what to buy without the guesswork.
Materials are purchased separately. Changing mattress and fitted sheet are not included.
What crochet experience do I need?
This Studio is ideal for confident beginners and anyone returning to crochet. If you know basic stitches such as chain, single crochet (US) and slip stitch, you're ready to begin.
You'll also have a stitch guide, close-up photographs and video demonstrations to help you along the way.
Can I really finish everything in one day?
Yes. Because you start with a pre-made wooden base and use thick cord, these pieces work up incredibly fast. The changing basket takes approximately 3–4 hours, and the matching caddy takes around 3 hours.
If you have your materials ready, completing both in a single day is absolutely doable. But there is no rush—if you prefer to take it slow, it makes a perfect, relaxed weekend nesting project.
Work at your own pace.
How big is the changing basket, and which mattress fits?
The changing basket is made using a 76 × 38 cm wooden base. The finished basket will be slightly larger than the wooden base.
How do I access the Studio?
You'll get instant access to your private Crochet Changing Table Studio after purchase, with ongoing access to all tutorials, videos, photographs and downloadable patterns. Work at your own pace and revisit the lessons whenever you need a refresher.
What if I get stuck or can't finish my project?
My goal isn't just to help you start — it's to help you finish.
If you're struggling with a technique or something doesn't look right, send me a message with a photo of your work. I'll personally help you troubleshoot the problem and find a way forward.
Is the changing basket safe for my baby?
The changing basket is designed for supervised nappy changes only. Always place it securely on a stable, flat, non-slip changing surface, keep one hand on your baby and never leave your baby unattended, even for a moment.
It is not intended for sleeping.
What if you buy the Studio & still can't do it?
